CHIEF BOB (Robert) SAVAGE
The only son of war hero Jeb Savage (Haunted M5 fame) and his wife Ima Savage. A Chief Petty Officer, he is the Boat Captain of Boat 31. This is Savage's first tour in Vietnam. Bob wanted to be where the action was and jumped at a combat assignment in Vietnam. When he is not fighting the Viet Cong from the deck of his fiberglass boat, he likes to play his guitar and read Sgt. Rock comic books. His fellow boat captains have nick-named him 'Popeye' because he never goes anywhere without his pipe. Even in the thick of a firefight you will see it tightly clenched between his teeth.

Seaman First Class Ted Johnston
Ted "Pappy" Johnston had already served two tours in Vietnam when Bob Savage arrived. A native of Grand Junction , Colorado, Pappy was sitting out the war at the Quan San Hut Naval Base, waiting for a boat to sign on when Bob picked him up. He had been on the 29 Boat until the VC decided to shoot it out from under him and his shipmates. He is the veteran of the crew and nothing shakes him. His hobbies include reading the classics and beating Savage at poker.

Seaman Willy Smith
Willy Smith is the 31 Boat's resident expert on Mowtown groups. A native of Detroit, Willy joined the Navy to get away from everything but the music. Whether it's rock and rolling with the crews transistor radio or with the Browning 50 caliber on the stern of the PBR, Willy does everything in high gear. You will always see the radio sitting near his station and he likes to crank it up nice and loud when he is going into battle. After all, what good is Marvin Gay if you can't hear him over the machine gun fire?

Seaman Mike Kirby
Seaman Mike Kirby is fromSan Diego, California. He joined the Navy fresh out of highschool to keep from being drafted by the Army. After bootcamp, he went straight to the fleet and was a gun crewman on a destroyer. He had heard about the Brown Water Navy in Vietnam from a shipmate and thought it sounded pretty exciting. He arrived about the same time as Savage and ended up on his crew. He is the twin fifty bow gunner on Boat 31. He is an excellent shot and a natural for such a station. In his sparetime he likes reading car magazines, surfing and water skiing.
